Functions

The curriculum of the Department of Clothing and Textiles is designed to help the student understand clothing as it relates to the needs of individuals and families and to provide training in the apparel and textile industries. Considerations are given to the satisfaction of desires to express creative abilities; the understanding of fabrics, their selection, use and care; economy; and the comfort and health of the body. The curriculum offers experience in clothing selection, buying, design, and construction; the identification and quality of textiles; and an appreciation for the history of costume and textiles.
