The College of Fine Arts and Communications, previously the College of Fine Arts, was established in 1963. Since 1963, the college has been administered by the following deans: Conan E. Mathews (1963-1966), Clawson Cannon (1967), Lorin F. Wheelwright (1967-1973), Lael J. Woodbury (1973-1982), James A. Mason (1982-1993), Bruce L. Christensen (1993-2000), K. Newell Dayley (2000-2003), Stephen M. Jones (2003-2015), and Edward Eugene Adams (2015- ).

Functions

The College of Fine Arts and Communications was organized to offer students in the fine arts greater opportunities for better coordinated academic and professional growth.

The College of Fine Arts and Communications has been the administering body for the following departments and schools: Art, Communications, Dramatic Arts, Music, Speech, Speech and Dramatic Arts, Art and Design, Theatre and Cinematic Arts, Design, Theatre and Film, Visual Arts, Theatre and Media Arts, School of Music, Dance, and Theatre, Speech, and Cinema. The college is administered by a dean under the direction of the university president. The College runs an Advisement Center for students.
