The Department of Theatre and Film was part of the College of Fine Arts and Communications beginning in 1988. Previously, the department was known as the Department of Theatre, Speech, and Cinema. In 1997 the name of the department was changed to Theatre and Media Arts. The Department Chairs were: Harold R. Oaks (1988-1994) and Eric Fielding (1994-1997).
