Student Life, previously Student Development, functions to advise open major students in choosing majors and classes. The following individuals have served as dean or acting dean: Maren M. Mouritsen (1993-1997), Janet S. Scharman (1997-2001), H. Nolan Reed (2001-2003), Lane Fischer (2003-2004) and Vernon L. Heperir (2004- ).

Functions
Student Life functions to help students who have not declared a major (open-major students) to complete their General Education courses as well as choose a major. The division also administers Campus Life, the Counseling and Career Center, Residence Life, the Student Health Center, and the University Police.

Student Life functions under the direction of the Student Life Vice President, under the administration of the Dean of Students.
