Brigham Young University has been offering housing for decades. In recent years, on-campus housing has included residences for Men and Women in both dormitory and apartment style buildings. Off-campus housing is maintained by landlords and must be approved by the university. Harold J. Redd (1993-1995), David A. Hunt (1995-1998) and Julie L. Franklin (1998- ) have served as directors.

Functions

On-campus housing consists of Helaman Halls, Heritage Halls, and up until 2006, Deseret Towers. Helaman Halls and Deseret Towers, residences for men and women, are dormitory style living, while Heritage Halls are apartment-type buildings. Family residences are found at Wymount Terrace and Wyview Park and are fairly furnished. The College of Humanities also sponsors Foreign Language Student Residence, where students only speak the foreign language in their apartment.

Off-campus housing includes thousands of rental spaces which have been approved by the university. Students can get help through housing services in finding off-campus housing. Housing services also works with landlords to maintain rental facilities and also works to assure BYU living standards are being met by students.
