The Institute of Public Management replaced the Institute of Government Service in 1979. The program continued to facilitate the Master of Public Administration degree. Lennis M. Knighton served as institute director 1979 to 1984. The institute was replaced with the Institute of Public Management and Health Administration in 1984.
