Brigham Young University. Honor Code Advisory Council

The Honor Code Advisory Council was created as part of a massive overhaul of the Honor Code in the fall of 1991. The council works closely with the Honor Code Office and previously worked with the student run Honor Code Council until it was abolished in 1997. The Honor Code Advisory Council is assisted by an executive committee and three subcommittees: the Policy Subcommittee, the Community Standards Subcommittee, and the Student Involvement Subcommittee. Jonathan Kau currently serves as chairman of the council.

Functions

The Honor Code Advisory Council advises and provides input to the President's Council on the implementation of the Honor Code, serves as a resource for academic, administrative and service areas on campus in understanding, supporting, and promoting the Honor Code, which includes dress and grooming standards, residential living standards, and academic honesty policy.

Assets and Administrative Structure

The Honor Code Advisory Council reports to the Vice President of Student Life. The council likewise works closely with the Honor Code Office with which they mutually consult, counsel, and raise critical issues affecting the Honor Code. Every winter semester or early spring semester the Executive Committee of the Honor Code Advisory Council and the Vice President of Student Life give an annual report to the President's Council and address any issues or recommendations that are pending at the time.
