Brigham Young University. Dept. of Secondary Education (1930-1955)

The Department of Secondary Teaching was renamed in 1930 as the The Department of Secondary Education while maintaining its place within the College of Education in Brigham Young University. The department offered courses in educational organization, administration, methods and teaching, vocational education, curriculum, research, and subject methods including art, music, chemistry, physical education, and home economics. In 1955, the department was combined with several others to create the Department of Instruction. Amos N. Merrill served as department chair from 1929 to 1944, Golden L. Woolfe served from 1945 to 1949 and 1953 to 1954, and A. John Clarke served from 1950 to 1952.
