Brigham Young University. Dept. of Scouting Education

The Department of Scouting was renamed the Department of Scouting Education in 1956. Royal B. Stone served as department chair from 1956 to 1958. In 1958 the department was renamed the Department of Youth Leadership. Brigham Young University was the first university in the nation to offer a major in Boy Scouting education.

The Department of Scouting included the courses: National Camp School, summer camp administration, conference planning techniques, modern district round table, Cub leadership, Boy Scout leadership, Explorer leadership, program planning, A, B, C. Councile Operating Committees and their Function, commissioner service, scouting's sponsors and public relations, history and development of the National and Local Council, district operation, and field activity course.
