Brigham Young University. Dept. of Physical Education-Men

The Department of Physical Education-Men was established in 1955 under the College of Recreation, Physical and Health Education, and Athletics and remained a part of this college until the college was reorganized as the College of Physical Education. At that point it became a part of the College of Physical Education. The following individuals served as chairmen: C. J. Hart (1955-1959, 1960-1962), Blauer L. Bangerter (1959-1960), David Geddes (1962-1970), Elmo Roundy (1970-1981).

Functions

The Department of Physical Education-Men served as a training ground for leaders in Physical Education and coaches. Courses were given for the student body and a great array of activities sponsored. This department also served to train men to be physically fit to serve the nation during World War II. Courses offered included Basketball, Archery, and Life Saving.
