Brigham Young University. Dept. of Educational Philosophy and Programs
In 1958, the Department of Educational Values and Programs was renamed as the Department of Educational Philosophy and Programs, while maintaining its position in the College of Education. The purpose of the department's coursework was to teach students to critically evaluate the values of educational systems, looking at education through historical, political, sociological, religious, and philosophical lenses. Coursework included educational values, the philosophy of education, the history of education, the school in the social order, and educational objectives and programs. In 1962, the department was absorbed by the newly created Graduate Department of Education within the College of Education. Stephen L. Alley served as department chair from 1958 to 1962.
