Computer Services was organized in 1969 with the expansion and reorganization of the Computer Research Center. Computers Services was reorganized in 1984 into Information Systems Services. Directors of Computers Services included: Gary Carlson (1969-1981) and Willard H. Gardner (1981-1985).

Functions

Computer Services was the administrative unit responsible for the computing facilities used at Brigham Young University. In 1972, Computer Services managed the Computer Research Center, the Engineering Analysis Center, and the Science Computation Center. In 1984, Computer Services provided extensive computing facilities to faculty, staff, and students. In addition to equipment, considerable computer library programs and experienced personnel are available to help with particular problems and/or training. Computer Services also facilitated the Information Center and the PC Technical Support Group.
