Broadcasting Services was set up to help facilitate the radio and television stations produced by BYU Network, Instructional TV, KBYU-FM and KBYU-TV. In 2003 the unit was renamed BYU Broadcasting. Directors and general managers of Broadcasting Services included T.M. Williams (1960-1966), Earl J. Glade Jr. (1966-1972), Bruce Christensen (1972-1979), Joseph (Joe) White (1979-1984), Thomas A. Griffiths (1984-1996), and John Reim (1996-2003).

Functions

The main objectives of Broadcast Services were to service the technical needs of the university-operated television broadcasting, FM radio broadcasting, and closed circuit TV broadcasting (for instructional purposes); to provide programming for the development, production, and broadcasting of mass audience oriented programs for the TV and radio services listed above; to provide training for students in the technical and programming aspects of broadcasting.
