In 1916, the Department of Psychology and Philosophy was dissolved within Brigham Young University's Church Teachers College. Two years later, this department was resurrected and renamed the Department of Psychology. When the Church Teachers College split in 1920, the Department of Psychology retained its name under the newly organized School of Arts and Sciences.
