In 1905, the Department of Fine Art and Design was renamed the Department of Art, while remaining in the School of Arts and Industries of Brigham Young University. It taught several courses in various art mediums. In 1906, the School of Arts and Industries was renamed the School of Arts and Trades; the Department of Art retained its name and functions. The School of Arts and Trades was abolished in 1909, and the Department of Art was absorbed by the High School.
