The Center for Teaching and Learning was established in 2007 when part of the Faculty Center and Center for Instructional Design reorganized. Its main purpose is to help faculty improve their teaching. Directors of the center include Russell T. Osguthorpe (2007-2013), Nancy Wentworth (2013-2018), and Janet L. Losser (2018-present).

Functions
The main function of the Center for Teaching and Learning is to assist faculty and departments to improving the teaching and learning process. Resources include full time staff to answer questions, Student Consulting on Teaching (SCOT) to help work with professors, and various other materials help help improve teaching. It is also set up for new faculty in an effort to help make the transition to BYU easier.

The Center for Teaching and Learning works closely with the Faculty Center. It acts under the direction of the director of the center.
