Center for Service and Learning

In 2004 the Jacobsen Center for Service and Learning was renamed to the Center for Service and Learning. Directors for the center have included: Sarah Westerberg (2004-2007), Casey Peterson (2007-2014), and Chris Crippen (2014- ).

The Center offers 56 community service programs, which serve individuals who have cognitive or physical disabilities, children and the elderly, at-risk children, and providing humanitarian service. Some of these programs originate in the Center, but many of them are aligned with non-profit agencies in the community, such as Habitat for Humanity, Community Action, and Best Buddies. Each community service program is administered by student leaders, all of whom are volunteers. Programs include: 4-H Mentoring, ACCESS, Adaptive Aquatics, Adopt-a-Grandparent, Athletic Connection, Best Buddies, Blood Drives, Boys and Girls Club, Brighter Horizons, BYU Experience, Circle K, Community Action, Community Clean-Up, Community Outreach Day, Conexiones, Cougar Coaches, Dietetics After School Program, Family Literacy, Freshman Service Corps, Friday's Kids Respite, Habitat for Humanity, Head Start, Healing, Healthcare, Heart 2 Home, Hope, Horses for Healing, Hospice, Impact, Locks of Love, Paint A Wish, Project Uplift, Project Youth, Provo Activity Center, Provo Youth Mentoring, RAH, Response, Rural Housing Development, Scouting, Seeds Of Success, Service Dates, Service to the World, Si (Spanish Interpreters), South Franklin Community Center, Special Olympics Team, Sports Hero Day, Stop and Serve, Sub for Santa, Teaching and Loving Children, TOPS, Tutoring, Urgent Needs, Utah Healing Arts, Volunteer Care Clinic, Y-ACT, Y-Days, and the Youth Detention Center.
