Brigham Young University. Records Management

In 1982, after officially establishing a Records Management Program, the jurisdiction of the program was transferred from the Library to Media Services. R.C. Wood was appointed Manager of Records Management (1982-1985).

In 1985 Records Management was transferred from Media Services to the Information Systems Services Division. The Records Managers were R. C. Wood (1985-1988) and Maralyn Harmston (1988-1990).

Functions

One of the objectives of the Records Management program was to educate other members of the University community about the principles and resources available for Records Management. Other objectives were to take the records from all University departments and either store them or destroy them according to their value to the University. The Records Center, as a part of the Records Management program, retrieved and stored the records that were solicited by Records Management.

Assets and Administrative Structure

Between 1982-1990 Records Management was run by a Records Management Manager. In 1982-1985 Records Management functioned under the supervision of the Executive Director for Media Services and from 1985-1990 it functioned under the supervision of the Executive Director of Information Systems Services.
