Brigham Young University. Foreign Language Student Residence

The Foreign Language Student Residence was established when the Foreign Language Houses relocated to a new complex; the name change reflected the new arrangement of the program. Current language offerings at the FLSR are Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Russian, Spanish, and Portuguese. The following have served as program coordinators since the name change: Hans W. Kelling (1991-1994), Dale Jarman (1994-1996), Jeannie Welch (1996-2008), and Robert Erickson (2008- ).

Functions

The Foreign Language Student Residence affords students the opportunity to live in language immersion; a native speaker of the target language assists in facilitating this immersion. Students pledge to only speak the target language while within the apartment.
