Brigham Young University. College of Engineering Sciences and Technology

The College of Engineering Sciences and Technology was established in 1973 when the College of Physical and Engineering Sciences split into the College of Engineering Sciences and Technology and the College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. The Department of Technology was also added to the college from the College of Industrial and Technical Education. The college continued in operation under its name until it was established as the College of Engineering and Technology in 1984. College deans have included Armin J. Hill (1973-1978) and L. Douglas Smoot (1978-1984).

Functions

The College of Engineering Sciences and Technology was originally organized to offer a broad spectrum of training in a single college for students interested in pursuing a career in a technological profession.

The college was administered by a dean under the direction of the president of the university.
