Brigham Young University. Advanced Composites Manufacturing and Engineering Center
The Advanced Composites Manufacturing and Engineering Center was founded in July 1990 by Professor A. Brent Strong, who served as the Center's only director. The Center remains running in name, but after 1996 no longer took on any more projects, due to lack of state grants.

Functions
The Center aided existing and start-up Utah composite manufacturing companies by testing products, trouble-shooting, and developing prototypes. The Center also researched to create new or enhanced products that could be spun off into new companies. Its test equipment is still used by BYU.
Assets and Administrative Structure
The Center was run by a director. It existed as part of the Centers of Excellence (COE) program, a state program that utilized university expertise to aid Utah industry. As such, the Center ran on state grants and the director of the Center reported to director of the state program.
