Brigham Young University. Administrative Council

In September of 1958 the BYU Board of Trustees informed President Wilkinson that the informal presidency which had been helping to administer the University had been organized without their permission. In its place the Board of Trustees allowed Wilkinson to organize an Administrative Council to take the place of this presidency and serve in an advisory capacity to the University President. The Council helped Wilkinson administer both the University and the Unified Church School System. This double fold function lasted until 1964 during Wilkinson's leave of absence from the University when Acting President Earl C. Crockett created a separate council for the Unified Church School System. The Administrative Council continued to operate throughout Wilkinson's tenure as University President. The council was abolished by Dallin H. Oaks shortly after he took over as President in August 1971.
