Marriott School of Management. Center for Economic Self-Reliance

The Center for Economic Self-Reliance was established under the Marriott School of Management in 2003. Since that year, it has partnered on many projects with the Peery Foundation, a California-based foundation that funds and encourages social entrepreneurship. In 2010, the Center was renamed the Melvin J. Ballard Center for Economic Self-Reliance. The Center's managing directors have included W. Gibb Dyer (2003-2006) and Todd Manwaring (2006-2010).

Functions

The Center provided students with opportunities to work on projects that attempt to solve real societal problems in innovative ways. It also supported faculty research in this area.
