In 2006 the School of Accountancy and Information Systems was renamed the School of Accountancy. Directors of the program included Kevin D. Stocks (2006-2012), Steve Glover (2012-2013), and Jeff Wilks (2013- ). In 2017, the Marriott School of Management, which this department is under, changed its name to the Marriott School of Business.

Functions
The school teaches students what they term the "language of business"--controlling, analyzing, and reporting the financial resources of a company. Students may receive a BS in Accounting as undergraduates, and Masters of Accounting in Professional Accountancy or in Tax.
