Functions

The Department of Military Science offered instruction in general military science leading to a commission in the U.S. Regular Army, the U.S. Army Reserve, or the U.S. Army National Guard. Courses included: Introduction to Leadership Excellence, Individual Leadership Skills, Fundamentals of Military Leadership, Small-Unit Leadership, Small-Unit Tactics, Organizational Leadership, Small-Unit Tactics, The Military Profession and Ethics, and the Profession of Arms. Students enrolled in the traditional four-year program were required to attend a six-week basic training camp.

Assets and Administrative Structure

The Department of Military Science (Army ROTC) functioned under the administration of a colonel as a chairman under a college dean.
