In 2009 the Department of Recreation Management and Youth Leadership was placed under the direction of the Marriott School of Management. Patti A. Freeman served as department chair beginning in 2009. Neil R Lundberg became department chair in 2015. In 2017 when the Marriott School of Management became the Marriott School of Business, the department name was changed to Experience Design and Management.

Functions

Students in the Department may complete accredited emphases in Experience Industry Management (EIM) or Therapeutic Recreation (TR). The two emphases share a commitment to providing recreation opportunities, programs, and experiences focused on strengthening individuals, families, and communities. Therapeutic recreation and experience industry management, however, represent diverse approaches and opportunities for students. A minor in nonprofit management is also available.
