KBYU-FM

The KBYU-FM is the later unit of KBYU, which was an AM station. KBYU-FM began broadcasting in 1960. Managers for KBYU have included: Gene Henderson (1960-1966), Leland H. Stott, Jr. (1970-1973), Jay Sheldon Monson (1973- 1979), Walter B. Rudolph (1979- ).

Functions

KBYU’s main functions is to provide news and entertainment to the campus of BYU and the Provo community. In 1979 KBYU-FM switched to a classical selection only, with some news programs as well.

KBYU-FM was under Broadcasting Services until 2003 when it was changed to BYU Broadcasting. KBYU-FM has been run by both a program manager and directors.
