Upon the completion of the J. Reuben Clark, Jr. Library Fall 1961, Special Collections was moved from the Heber J. Grant Building to the new edifice. In 1958, it was planned that Special Collections, the archives, reading room and a vault would be housed on the main (3rd) floor of the J. Reuben Clark, Jr. Library. The Special Collections Librarian was Chad J. Flake (1961-1973).
In 1973 the J. Reuben Clark, Jr. Library was renamed the Harold B. Lee Library, where Special Collections remained.
