To provide future chemical engineers with training to work on the leading edge of technology--researching and developing the ideas of today for the designs, systems, and products of tomorrow. Areas of instruction include heat transfer, fluid dynamics, chemical reaction kinetics, thermodynamics, separation operations, materials science, process control, and plant design.

The Department of Technology was a department within the College of Engineering and Technology. The Department Chairs were: John J. Kunzler, Jr. (1984-1986); E. Max Raisor (1986-1987); J.L. Carroll (1987-1989); John J. Kunzler (1989-1990). The Department Chair was under the direction of the Dean in the College of Engineering and Technology. In 1990 the department became part of the Department of Manufacturing Engineering and Technology.
