In 1990 Records Management was transferred from Information Systems Services to the Library.  In early 1991 Records Management and University Archives merged to make a new department, University Archives and Records Management. Then in 1997 the department was split with University Records Management remaining separate, and the archives being integrated into the Department of Special Collections and Manuscripts. The University Archives and Records Management Committee focused on three major projects. First, the creation of a report and recommendations supporting the establishment of a full university records management service. Second, Revision of the university archives use policy. Third, establishing standards, policies and guidelines for the preservation and storage of university records on microfilm.

In 1990 Records Management was transferred from Information Systems Services to the Library.
