BYU Harold B. Lee Library

Placed in the Technical Services Division upon the creation of that division in 1980. Immediately prior to its incorporation in the new division as a department, it was the Serials Section. It was first chaired by Kirk Memmott (1980-1991). The director then became the Serials Librarian, the first being Keith Westover (1991-1995) and now Dennis Bernards (1996- ).

Functions

The function of the Serials Dept. is to manage all aspects of the ordering, payment, receipt, and processing of serial publications (in all formats - print, electronic, etc.) that become part of the library collection.

Assets and Administrative Structure

Comprised of four sections: Records Control, Serials Record, Serials Office, and Serials Bindery. At various times included Bindery Preparations, Exchange, and Automation sections.
