Library Conservation was renamed the Preservation Department as the program and its objectives solidifies. The Preservation Department was still under Collection Development. In 1992 the Preservation Department, which contained the conservation lab, book repair, and the bindery preparation unit, was split and the conservation lab was put into a new department, the Conservation Department.
