The Materials Acquisitions Department was formed in 2006 when the Serials Acquisitions, Monograph Acquisitions, and Electronic Resources and Licensing Departments were merged. Tom Wright (2006-) was selected as the first Department Chair.

Functions

The Material Acquisitions Department was primarily responsible for collection development of the library's monographs, serials, and electronic resources. These functions included evaluating possible acquisitions, purchasing, and assisting subject librarians with deselection. The department also supervised book repairs.

The Department Chair reported to the Assistant University Librarian for Collection Development and Technical Services.
