The Dept. of Communication Disorders was established in 2006 after the Dept. of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology was renamed. The department was housed within the David O. McKay School of Education. Chairmen included: David L. McPherson (2006-2010), Christopher Dromey (2010-2015, 2021- ), and Martin Fujiki (2015-2021).

Functions
This academic department prepares students to be communication specialists in schools, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and other agencies and in private practice. The department offered an undergraduate minor and BS in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology, as well as a MS in Speech-Language Pathology.

The department operated under the direction of a chairman who reported to the dean of the school.
