The Center for the Improvement of Teacher Education and Schooling (CITES) was established in 1997 as a part of the David O. McKay School of Education. CITES aims to perpetuate the education of teachers in order to benefit students of public schools throughout Utah. Directors include Robert S. Patterson (1997-2003), K. Richard Young (2003-2007), and Steven Baugh (2007-).
