In 2005 the Ancient Near Eastern Studies Program was created and placed under the direction of the Kennedy Center for International Studies. Dana M. Pike served as program coordinator since 2005.

Functions
The program was structured to provide students with a broad understanding of the civilizations of the ancient Near East and to emphasize the the study of the Hebrew Bible and related literature or the Greek New Testament and related literature in their broader ancient Near Eastern Context. Program completion would result in a B.A. in Ancient Near Eastern Studies.

The program was administered by the program coordinator, under the direction of the Kennedy Center director.
