The American Studies Program was transferred to the newly established David M. Kennedy Center for International Studies in 1983. Program coordinators included: Neil L. York (1983-1986), Arthur R. Bassett (1986-1990), Richard H. Cracroft (1990-1995), Neil L. York (1995-1999), Gregory Clark (1999-2002), Phillip A. Snyder (2002-2006), and Kerry Soper (2006-).

Functions

The American Studies program was responsible for providing students with course in American Literature, history, anthropology, geography, economics, and other topics. Focus would be placed on developing particular skills in literary criticism, historical research, and social, political, and economic analysis.
