The Daily Universe began in 1956 after the renaming of Brigham Young Universe. Editors include: Ralph Barney (1956-1957), Mark Murphy (1957-1958)... Edward L. Carter (2010).

Functions
The Daily Universe was the campus-lab for journalism students. The Daily Universe mainly existed to train journalism and public relations students in writing for mass media. A byproduct of this lab was a campus newspaper oriented.
