In 1909, Brigham Young University renamed and refocused the mission of its College. The Church Teachers College absorbed all of the Colleges departments but centered their energies into thoroughly preparing collegiate students to become high school educators. The Department of Mathematics offered Algebra and higher Mathematics. In 1919, the department combined with the Department of Physics.

The Department of Mathematics was responsible for the teaching of courses in Algebra and Higher Mathematics.
Assets and Administrative Structure
The Department of Mathematics was part of the Church Teachers College, the higher-education branch of Brigham Young University. William F. Ward served as department chair from 1909 to 1911 and 1912 to 1913, with Chester Snow from 1911-1912. Andrew S. Gibbons served as department chair from 1913 to 1914, Harvey Fletcher served from 1914 to 1916, and Carl F. Eyring served from 1916 to 1929.
