The Department of University Studies was established in 1973 as a department within the College of General Studies. Department chairs included Spencer J. Condie (1973-1975), John L. Sorenson (1975-1978), and Dennis F. Rasmussen (1978-1979). In 1979 the department moved to the College of Humanities when the College of General Studies was dismantled.

Functions

The department of University Studies offered both a bachelor's and associate degree in University Studies, advisement for students without majors, and tutoring services. This department allowed the students to undertake an individually tailored degree program which consisted of courses from several academic areas instead of just one.
