Brigham Young University. University History Committee
The University History Committee sought to compile and record the history of Brigham Young University. They also offered advice to the university archivist on how best to assess what archival materials needed to be preserved and which ones could be disposed of. Chairmen of this committee include Alice L. Reynolds (1937-1939), J.M. Jensen (1939-1946), Newburn I. Butt (1946-c. 1964), Donald K. Nelson (1972-1980), and Sterling J. Albrecht (1980-1982).

Functions
The University History Committee was organized to maintain records containing the history of BYU and to lay the groundwork for compiling a centennial history of BYU. They also advised the University Archivist concerning the legal, educational, administrative, financial, and historical values of and policies and procedures for retention and disposal of university archival materials.
