Functions
The University History Committee was organized to maintain records containing the history of BYU and to lay the groundwork for compiling a centennial history of BYU. They also advised the University Archivist concerning the legal, educational, administrative, financial, and historical values of and policies and procedures for retention and disposal of university archival materials.

The University History Committee was administered by a chairman. This committee was appointed by the President and responsible to the Academic Vice-President.
