Established in 2002, the University Accessibility Center strives to ensure that students with disabilities are provided access to university programs. Prior to 2002, these services were known as Services for Students with Disabilities. The University Accessibility Center works within the department of Campus Life.

Functions

The goal of the University Accessibility Center (UAC) is to provide programs and services to assist students who have disabilities to have access to the programs, services and information that they may need in their pursuit of excellence and the realization of human potential within the university environment. Assistance is provided to students who have physical, hearing, learning, attention and emotional concerns that may put them at a disadvantage compared to other students at the university in their quest for this goal. A variety of services are offered such as qualified sign language interpreters, assistive listening devices, volunteer notetakers, volunteer readers, library lockers, study rooms, VisualTeks, taped textbooks, Braille writers, and an adapted computer with enlarged characters and speech synthesis.
