Undergraduate Education administers elements of the undergraduate degree on a university level, including the General Education program, the Honors Program, University Writing, the Office of First-Year Experience, and, since 2009, the Freshman Academy program. The aim of Undergraduate Education is to foster an environment of teaching and learning as part of a well-rounded university education, thus enriching the experience of each student.
Assets and Administrative Structure
Undergraduate Education is supervised by a dean, under the direction of the University, and oversees the General Education program, the Honors Program, University Writing, the Office of First-Year Experience, Freshman Academy, and the Office of Prestigious Scholarships and Fellowships. The first four components (General Education, Honors, University Writing, and First-Year Experience) were until 2009 administered directly by one of four associate deans specifically assigned to that unit. Beginning in 2009, two associate deans and two assistant deans aid the Dean of Undergraduate Education to globally supervise the entire Undergraduate Education program.
