Tutoring Service offered tutoring to all BYU students. Tutoring Service began as a paid service as part of Student Personnel Services (1962-1968). In 1968, peer tutoring became associated with General College, which evolved into the College of General Studies in 1973. Tutors were authorized as competent in the subject matter. Coordinators included: William Dale Goodson (1972-1973), Royce Flandro (1973-1974), Howard Reid (1973-1975), Jerry L. Jensen (1975-1979), Wayne R. Herlin (1979), and Craig R. Mayfield (1979-1981). In 1982, Tutoring Service became a part of Student Life Programs.
