The Training Department was organized in University Personnel Services in 1968 to provide supervisory training programs, safety promotion and reporting, special workshops, promotion of Management-by-Objectives program, conducting of employee attitude survey, preparation of a secretarial handbook, and publication of the employee newsletter, the “Communicator”. Its purpose was to bring about the maximum utilization of the University’s human and financial resources. Supervisors included: Nad Brown 1970-71; Mark Stoner 1971-1979; Don Jay Brown 1979-1988.

Functions

The Training Department provided supervisory training programs to employees of the University. They also assisted with safety promotion and development. It developed programs to teach productive and effective management to administrative personnel and efficient work techniques to staff employees.

The Training Department reported first to Student Personnel Services until the department settled and then to the Director of University Personnel Services.
