The Traffic Committee was the overseeing body of all traffic violations on BYU's campus. It studied ways to improve parking and vehicular traffic. This committee also worked at improving and determining traffic policies and maintaining overall security on BYU campus. Chairmen of this organization include L.M. Perry (1952-1954), Leonard E. Christensen (1954-?), Sam Brewster (1968-1969, 1972-?), Swen Nielsen (1969-1972), David M. Sorensen (1980-1981), and Gail Halvorsen (1981-1984).

Functions
The Traffic Committee studied ways of improving parking and the management of vehicular traffic on campus and initiated recommendations on policy related to campus parking and traffic. It was also commissioned to hear and rule on traffic citations when appealed by members of the faculty, administration, and full-time staff to make recommendations on policy questions concerning all phases of campus safety. Another goal of the committee was to maintain the security of the BYU campus in case of disturbances from groups outside and to determine regulations and policies which will govern traffic and parking.

The Traffic Committee is run by a chairman who is a member of the Dean of Students Council. The committee is responsible to the Dean of Students.
