The Technical and Semi-Professional Institute was established in 1959 as a part of the General College. It aided students who came to the university wanting to obtain technical training in specialized fields. W. Hales (1959-1961) and Ernest C. Jeppsen (1961-1964) served as acting chairman and director, respectively.

Functions

The Technical and Semi-Professional Institute aided students wanting to obtain training in agriculture, engineering, and business. Computer Programming, Industry, Genealogy, Commercial Art, and Homemaking were also made available. Semi-professional and technological courses were offered on a two-year level, at the completion of which, students receive certification.

Assets and Administrative Structure

The Technical and Semi-Professional Institute functioned under the administration of an acting chairman and director under a college dean.
