The Technical Institute was a major division of the College of Industrial and Technical Education beginning in 1966. It served to prepare students for employment in technical and preprofessional areas of business, industry and government. Ernest C. Jeppsen served as director.

Functions

The Technical Institute offered two-year technical and preprofessional associate degrees for business technicians, engineering programs, industrial programs, and miscellaneous technician programs. Some of these areas include that of secretarial service, chemical engineering technicians, building construction, and genealogical research.

Assets and Administrative Structure

The Technical Institute functioned under the administration of a director under a college dean. Instructors in the institute were drawn from a variety of other departments of the University.
