Brigham Young University. Student Services

Student Services was established in 1972 as a division of Student Life at the university. Student Services provided non-major instruction and advisement to students and was administered by an assistant dean. Gary H. Carver served as the assistant dean from 1972 to 1979 under the direction of the Dean of Student Life, J. Elliot Cameron.

During 1977 and 1978, an entity called Personal and Career Assistance Programs or PCAP was organized under Student Services to govern the areas of Personal and Career Services, the Counseling Center, the Career Education Program, International Student Advisement, and Student Health Service. In 1978, a separate organization by the same name was created to direct these services.
